A web design proposal, as an example you can edit
Discovery, design, build and launch, priced line by line, with a design tier for the client to pick.
This is a complete proposal for a small online shop: a ceramics studio moving its forty pieces online, with a wholesale list for the cafés that stock them. The studio, the people and every price are made up. Copy it and change the names, the lines and the numbers to your own.
The structure
- Discovery A kick-off workshop and a content inventory: what sells, who buys, what exists already.
- Design One tier for the client to pick: a refreshed theme, a custom design, or custom with art direction.
- Build The storefront itself, plus an optional journal the owner writes.
- Launch Testing on the phones and browsers the customers use, and optional support after launch.

The letter
Three short paragraphs: what you heard on the studio visit, what the shop will be, and that the tier and extras are theirs to switch, with the total and the date following their choices. It reads like a note from a person, because it is one.
The terms
- 30% on acceptance, 40% when the design is signed off, 30% at launch; invoices due within 14 days.
- Two rounds of changes in each phase; further changes at an hourly rate agreed before the work starts.
- The design and the code belong to the client once the final invoice is paid.
Why the design is a tier and the journal is an extra
